The Women’s Divorce Academy TRUST Method

"Where do I start?" It's the question I'm asked more than any other. The TRUST Method is my answer – five stages, in order, so you always know what comes first.

If you're here, you may be wondering:

  • Where do I even start?

  • Do I need a lawyer?

  • What's the most important thing to tackle first?

  • What if I make a mistake?

And underneath all of them, the same thing: it feels like too much at once.

Every one of those questions has an answer. What makes it hard is the order they arrive in. Some of what happens in the first months is difficult to undo later – a document signed before it was understood, advice not taken, a year spent holding everything together while the clock runs.

Knowing what comes first is how you protect yourself. That's what the quiz below will tell you.

Pop your details in below for instant access to the free guide — I'll walk you through all 5 mistakes, why they're so common, and exactly what to do instead.

Divorce isn't one decision. It's five stages, and each one has its own job.

What matters in the first fortnight is not what matters six months later. Doing the right thing at the wrong time is where women lose money, time, and ground they can't get back – not because they weren't capable, but because nobody handed them the order.

So we start by working out where you are.

When you take the TRUST Method Quiz, you'll know:

  • Which of the five stages you're in right now, and what that means for you this week

  • The three things to deal with first, and what can safely wait

  • Where your legal, money, children and you threads sit at this stage, so nothing gets dropped

Hi, I’m Carolyn.

I separated in 2017 and divorced in 2019 – and I did nearly all of it in the wrong order.

I'm a journalist, so I investigated my way through. I still didn't speak to a lawyer for a year, because I didn't think I could afford one – and that year cost my children and me support we were entitled to.

Years earlier, my husband had added me to the deed of the house he owned before we met. A wedding present. When we separated he kept the house, and I lost my first home buyer's grant eligibility for a property I never really owned.

Since then I've worked with more than 800 women through separation and divorce, and built Women's Divorce Academy so that nobody has to piece this together in the dark.

The TRUST Method is the map I wish I'd had.
